Die Mond another good long weekend with friends

A well co-ordinated weekend to incorporate my birthday, Easter and the week before Afrikaburn’s craziness.
A little cramped on the campsite but it was busy – still nicely situated on a river’s edge. Ablutions were quaint but a bit of a walk to get to and no electricity which is fine as we are all self sufficient.
No cell signal for miles around – this is somewhere in the Tankwa Karoo ! To access Die Mond you travel through various Karoo farm lands with plenty of gates and beautiful scenery. The distant Tankwa farm stall / shop / restaurant / bar is fabulous and not to be missed along with another stop at the Halfway House.
An eye-opener as to what Afrikaburn must be like. We were privy to all the makings of this year’s Afrikaburn creations – and sworn to secrecy until after the Burn. It was interesting to say the least, but I could not possibly imagine “living” in those conditions although thousands flock there every year.
We rounded off the day with a braai at Tankwa Tented Camp alongside remnants of previous Burns’.
Awesome birthday celebrations – thanks to my 4×4 Queens – and the usual Easter Egg hunt which all the kids thoroughly enjoyed!
