Tiana and I went away for her Birthday extended weekend and We Stayed at Mount Ceder in the Cederberg at the Kriedoring Camp site.
Most fantastic spot to get away from it all. Peaceful and quiet, with just distant farm machinery noises during the week. Beautiful scenery, although the “river” is a little far away from the camp sites and you would need to do a little bundu bashing to walk to it, you can still hear it. Each site has it’s own fantastic abultion block and kitchen area. Spotlessly clean room with toilet, plus another spotlessly clean room with big open shower and hand basin (own key), Kitchenette area has 2 sinks, one for dishes and one for laundry, 2 plate gas stove, trommel for you to store things in, a few bats and lots of geckos not seen during the day. Alonside the unit are the recycling bins.
There is also a shade cloth area and all green grass to relax on, with a few trees surrounding you, guaranteeing that you will hear birdsong all day long.
Best part is that the next campsite is about 100 metres away.
On the farm there are also self catering units, a restaurant, a little shop, a section of the river for swimming and paddling with a grass clearing amidst the reeds.
Beware of the baboons – they are in the area, although did not bother us. You can also spot a few buck and scrub hares. Definitely take some time to do the hikes in the area – they are easy and not too strenuous.
